Abstract
This ethnomusicological research explores the historical development and contemporary practice of Afro-Peruvian musical genres and their contribution to Peruvian national identity. Analysis of musical compositions, performance contexts, and cultural narratives reveals that Afro-Peruvian music has gained mainstream recognition, yet its African roots remain underacknowledged in national discourse.
